Looking at some of the 1969 Mets Gear

It wouldn’t be a celebration without plenty of merchandise available for sale, and this weekend is going to be no different.

Before I take a look and dissect what the Mets are offering in-store at the ballpark, I wanted to look at three of the online pieces of merch celebrating the 1969 Amazin’ Mets.

The first item is available on the Mets Team Store is going for $37.99, and is essentially a Mets cap with a Blue Squatchee, witch is era appropriate, but all historically accuracy gets thrown out with the raised stitching and the New Era Flag Logo.

I’m not sure how our friends at Uni-Watch feel about that one.

The next one is something I’d actually consider purchasing, it’s a display case (for $49.99) with the scores of each of the games in the 1969 World Series in the background.

Unfortunately, the commemorative baseball, as you can see in the image, is not included, which makes this a $50 glass box. So unless if you have a baseball that needs displaying alongside 1969 scores, I’m not sure what the target audience is for that.

Lastly (at least in terms of what I get when I search “1969 Mets” on MLBShop) there is this “50th Anniversary Mr.Met Mascot from Oyo Sports, available for a mere $9.99

I’m not actually sure what this is. I assumed it’s some kind of a toy, but the description reads “Featuring authentic graphics and a detailed likeness of one of the most well-known mascots in baseball, this piece will be an incredible addition to your collection of New York Mets memorabilia”

I’m not sure how a $9 toy will be a “an incredible addition to your collection” 😉

So that’s a look at the online side of things. I’ll be at the game on Sunday, so I’ll be sure to take plenty of retail pictures. In the meantime, feel free to send game shots to @NikoGoutakolis on Twitter!
