I’m stunned the Mets didn’t score 20 runs for him after scoring 0 for Jerry. Of course they did give Terrific five runs to work with but he only ave us three innings and he have the four runs back.
Also, it’s obvious Gil reads these. He started Shamsky (.348) and Cleon (.351) and whaddaya know, the Mets scored some runs! Maybe starting 8 guys batting .220 wasn’t a good idea!
In Game 2, the Mets must have thought that Seaver was starting as the bats really came out scoring 10 runs! Nolan Ryan, who I still see as a bullpen guy, with the surprising complete game. Even struck out 7 batters. Who knew?
