Gil Must Go: Gil’s not gonna go, but I am.

Wow Mets fans are the worst. Did you see how they tore up the field after the World Series? Show some respect!

I hit the parade earlier and while it was fun enough, there were so many fake phony fraud “Mets fans” there it was unbelievable. How many of these people are former Yankees fans?  I imagine quite a lot.

Well, it will be quite some time before the Yankees are able to Take Back New York.  Their team got old, their stadium got older.  Why the hell would you root for them now when all the excitement is in Queens.

The Mets should be stacked for some time with the Koosman-Gentry-Seaver 1-2-3 rotation.  Gil Hodges isn’t great but hey he won, and he’s so young he could be with this team a long long time.  Johny Murphy gives a steady hand in the GM office.  Right now, you’d have to wonder if a Dynasty has started in Queens.

And with that, it’s time for me to go.  I have enjoyed recapping the Mets all these years but there’s nothing left to do here.  They won the World Series and the franchise is in good hands.

I’m still kind of mad NBC canceled Star Trek, I might see if I can convince them to bring it back.  So instead of blogging about the Mets, I will be blogging about Star Trek on a new site.  I’ll let you know when I launch it.

Thanks for reading, and Let’s Go Mets!

….

And that’s a wrap on Gil Must Go.

Now clearly I don’t hate Tom Seaver and I don’t hate Gil Hodges.  I thought Gil Must Go would be a fun way to make fun of myself and the way I write about the current Mets, and to also mock the way the media handles everything.

It is kind of sad to think that the Mets had the young pitching, a young manager…and the future did not work out.  You all know about Gil, but you may not realize GM Johnny Murphy died in January of 1970.   Koosman would make it all the way to the terrible late 70’s, but in just 7 and a half years even Tom Seaver would be an ex-Met.

It rarely works out in Queens.
