Much thanks to General Lukas (retired) for putting this on my radar. The Times has a fun article about fans sending some donations to Mr. Van Wagenen via Venmo.
Moments later, he opened his cellphone to scroll through the email notifications he had received from Venmo since he became general manager. Van Wagenen has deleted most of them, but plenty remained: one request for $100, and another for $1,200.
..
Van Wagenen has not responded to the notifications, but he admitted he got a chuckle from reading them. “I’m active on Twitter,” he said. “I’m active on Instagram. I enjoy both of those platforms, but I’m not really a Venmo user.” (Via NY Times)
I guess it’s funny. Its more clever than this 6th iteration of The Boycott which never goes anywhere.
For the record, I am a Times digital subscriber (also WashPo) but don’t always get to go through it in the mornings – today’s workout was a run (humblebrag) and then I had work to do. On Bike Workout days I usually kill the ride reading the Times and Post. Today was not one of those days, so thanks to Paul for putting this under my nose.
In exchange, I shall encourage you all to buy a Uni Watch Seam Ripper so you can get all this corporate logo crap off your caps and especially off jerseys.
