Hey my old pal Sporty (Nick) is back hooking me up with Home Run Calls. Tonight, the Mets are taking the webcast as seriously as I am, and someone named Mike Janela is describing the game because reasons.
I am unfamiliar with Mr. Janela. His twitter bio says..
He appears to be one of the “game hosts” – you remember Bralexa before Bralexa left us letting us know they never really loved us or cared about the Mets, and since he is in broadcasting is of course part of the Syracuse Mafia that has its tentacles everywhere. Anyway, I wish Mr. Janela well and welcome him to Sterling or Scully….
And here’s @MikeJanela‘s HR call, ICYW as official Twitter has audio of this muted. pic.twitter.com/5ugS40RLsI

So to remind everyone, a call has only one of two grades, Sterling OR Scully. There’s no in-between. And I am not out to give Mr. Janela a hard time, but I can’t possibly use the words Vin Scully within a 50 mile radius of this. At least he didn’t mail it in with a “to the track, to the wall” like some announcers do. But since there can only be one verdict, and that verdict will not invoke the name of Vin….
VERDICT: Sterling
Let’s give Janela another shot, shall we….
Another HR call, no wall-tracking & a Buffalo Blast from Wilson Ramos. pic.twitter.com/ogfrSLinUE

Very nice. No track walling No forced catch phrase. Some lesser announcers do that. Minimal words. This is…
VERDICT: Scully
Congrats Mike on your first Scully!
I am enjoying the heck out of NOT watching the Mets but BWU (Blogging under the influence) tonight. I may have had some wine.
