Some Opening Day Notes from my friends the Mets

My friends the Mets sent me some information!

The Mets are set to open their 59th season in team history when they host the Atlanta Braves…In the history of Major League Baseball, the Mets (38-20, .655) have the best winning percentage on Opening Day.

After losing their first eight Opening Day contests, the Mets have won 38 of their last 50 Opening Day games (.760)…New York took nine straight openers from 1975-1983 to tie a major league record…The Mets have won 11 of their last 14 openers.

Today is the seventh time the Mets have opened the season at Citi Field…New York is 5-1 when starting the year at Citi Field…The Mets are 22-3 in their last 25 Opening Days at home and 22-8 overall when starting the season at home.

Over the final 60 games of the 2019 season, the Mets’ 39-21 mark tied for the second-best in the majors and co-led the NL… Only one team, the Astros (42-18), had a better record in the season’s last 60 games…The Rays, Twins, Dodgers and A’s all also ended last year on a 39- 21 run…See the chart below for the Mets’ best 60-game starts to a season:
