Now Peterson is hurt….Corey Oswalt to start for Mets while they don’t use stiff necked JDG ever but he’s totally fine really

My friends the Mets sent me some notes and they aren’t good.  Well the notes themselves are perfectly well done, I just don’t like the combination of words because they make me sad.  Keep reading.

LHP David Peterson has been placed on the IL retroactive to August 14 with left shoulder fatigue.

See, aren’t you sad now?

RHP Drew Smith has been recalled from the team’s Alternate Training Site.

RHP Franklyn Kilome has been optioned to the team’s Alternate Training Site.

RHP Corey Oswalt has been recalled from the team’s Alternate Training Site.

I guess Matz won’t lose his rotation spot.  And isn’t it weird that the Mets refuse to use JDG who just had a stiff neck and is totally fine really?

This will mark Oswalt’s second stint with the team…He appeared in one game in relief on July 26 vs. Atlanta and allowed five earned runs in 4.0 innings of work…Oswalt has made 12 starts in his career, all in 2018 and went 2-3 with a 4.72 ERA (29 earned runs/55.1 innings) with 17 walks and 39 strikeouts… The 26-year-old made 16 starts at Triple-A last year and went 10-4 with a 2.91 ERA (28 earned runs/86.2 innings) with 15 walks and 79 punchouts…Smith has appeared in seven games for the Mets and owns a 3.00 ERA (two earned runs/6.0 innings) with six strikeouts.

Earlier today in Hicksville, NY, Island Harvest Food Bank and the Mets Foundation held a drive-through/walk-up food and back-to- school supplies distribution for families who continue to struggle as a result of the financial difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic…School supplies handed out included pens, pencils as well as notebooks…Families were also able to pick up canned goods, meat, dairy and produce…Personal care items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste were available at no cost.

Dominic Smith leads the Mets with six home runs and 18 RBI…He is tied for seventh in the NL in home runs and tied for sixth in the NL in RBI… He has 13 extra-base hits in 58 at-bats this season and sports a 1.133 OPS…In his last 11 games, Smith is hitting .349 (15-43) with seven doubles, five homers, 13 RBI and eight runs scored…12 of his last 15 hits have been for extra bases…Smith hit 11 home runs in 177 at-bats last year.

Dom of course leads the team in Home Runs.
