This was weird. I liked the Mets owner.
I think the best way to recap this is just to tell you the words I heard as I listened….and I really liked the words I heard.
I want to win a championship.
I want Mets fans to have a great experience.
I will build a team that has continued success.
We will hire great BASEBALL PEOPLE like Sandy Alderson.
Homegrown Talent
You build championships you don’t buy them.
We want to win now but we are also building for the long term.
I know you will judge me every day.
I’m all in, Let’s Go Mets.
Nice speech.
On to the Q&A….
Steve Gelbzzzz asked a Q…but Cohen talked about sitting in the upper deck and said that’s how you build your affiliation with teams. HE GETS IT!!!!
Uncle Steve2 talked about how this isn’t about making money – he has another business where he makes money.
I’m not in this to be mediocre, I want something great.
“Having Old Timers’ Day would be kinda fun. I don’t know why we wouldn’t have that” – he did say if we’re allowed to have fans.
Mentioned Seaver Statue festivities.
Mentioned that fans are the CUSTOMER. Wow – I don’t think the previous regime ever got that.
You gotta win one (World Series) first – I have a feeling that’s a good feeling and then you want more of that.
“You wanna win.”
“Nobody remembers who came in second or third place.” We do Steve – it was the Mets.
Steve hopes to win a World Series within the next 3-5 years or he will be disappointed. He did allow for the possibility of winning sooner.
We wanna be great more often.
