Look Uncle Steve is really rich. The Mets are going to get all the Free Agents, except Springer, and except Hand.
Listen, the Mets were in on this guy. Like they were in on Hendricks and Springer. I mean we got none of them. But did you know we traded for a guy making basically same amount as Cano freed up money was? Oh, you do. Well good thing you can ignore the GM fired a month in oh wait

Yeah they signed McCann, and they signed some reliever guy whose name I can’t remember – Trevor May – remember him?
Where’s the money? The Cano Money pays for Lindor this season.
You already have some fans laying the case that, oh well, the Mets couldn’t’ afford Springer AND keeping Conforto? Why not?
Let me put it this way. Say you paid Springer $30 million, and Conforto $30 million. If you paid them each $30 million for 30 season contracts that would be $30m x 30 x 2 which is $1.8 billion dollars. Which is a lot of money to most people, but not to Uncle Steve. He’s been known to write big checks like that. The Mets have the money, they choose not to spend it.
I’m wondering if they sense that fans won’t be allowed at games again – which would suggest that incremental income like TICKETS won’t be coming in. And I don’t know if the concession contracts are like, “Sucks to be you Aramark!” or what – but maybe that’s what is behind this Wilponian frugality.
I want ALL the Free Agents. Except Trevor Bauer. He will make a fine fine Yankee.
