So what’s interesting is that “Opening Day” tickets will be used for whatever Game 1 winds up being. What happens to the person who had tickets to the original date? They just lose? What if was a gift for someone’s birthday or something – what if someone is coming from out of town to see their favorite team play the Mets. I think this is not cool.
I hope the lockout lasts forever. I am not the least bit sad about today’s news. Let it all burn.

While Major League Baseball and the Major League Players Association continue to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement, MLB has notified the Clubs that it is no longer possible to play the regular season games originally scheduled for March 31-April 5, 2022. Accordingly, Mets Opening Day originally scheduled for March 31 has been postponed and our April 2-5 homestand has been cancelled.
Like you, we are disappointed that we are not able to start our season as scheduled and regret any inconvenience this causes you. MLB is working to get the game back on the field as quickly as possible.
While we have no further information as to when the season may begin, we wanted to share the following information regarding your tickets for Opening Day and the April 2-5 games against the Nationals and the Braves.
2022 Mets Opening Day
Fans holding tickets to Mets Opening Day originally scheduled for Thursday, March 31 at Citi Field can use their tickets for admission to the first ticketed 2022 regular season home game at Citi Field following the delay.
TBD Date Rescheduled Opening Day: Tickets previously distributed for the game that becomes the first ticketed 2022 regular season Mets home game cannot be used for admission and will be treated under this policy as if such game was impacted. Details including the rescheduled date and time of Mets Opening Day will be communicated at a later date.
Impacted Games – April 2 – 5, 2022
At this time the following 2022 Mets regular season home games are considered impacted and the below ticket information addresses these games. All ticket management actions for tickets for impacted games, including Ticket Forwarding, will be canceled. These tickets will be removed from your account and are no longer valid for admission.
