The Mets tried to keep Amazin’ Day a secret from me (where’s the press release guys?) but I found out about it anyway!
UPDATE!!!!!! Where’s the Press Release? It was in my SPAM folder. What’s weird, is I checked with another notable blogger and he hadn’t gotten it either – but my pal @ceetar told me HE got it this morning, so I checked SPAM and there it is. I don’t think that’s ever happened before going all the way back to Day One in April of 2008. Anyway, thanks Mets! I have added you guys to VIP Sender status so hopefully your stuff gets through next time!
Below is the press release, and below that my original post.

What you do is, you just throw on your Mets hat and experience iconic NYC institutions like The Met Museum, The Metropolitan Opera House, Gotham Comedy Club, Webster Hall and so much more. However, If you like the Mets and live in the suburbs you can go hose off, kinda like this guy thinks of you. The Mets ain’t scheduling no events in Nassau or Jersey.
I’m not really sure what this is about. My best guess is that this is some sort of “added value” package that went to the advertisers (some brands you have heard of are on the official website) and someone in marketing cobbled it together and called it a day (ha) and now we have Amazin’ Day! You know, Amazin’ Day, where you go to Webster Hall in a Mets cap. Wait, what?
Webster Hall
1ST SHOW: DOORS 6:30PM, SHOW: 7:30PM;
2ND SHOW: DOORS & SHOW 11PM
Your Mets hat could get you inside one of the most famed night clubs and concert halls in the East Village for two Amazin’ shows. For each show, the first 25 fans to arrive at the venue and join the line wearing their Mets hat, will receive complimentary admission plus a free VIP ticket upgrade.
You might want to drive to Queens and see this:
Diamond Takeover 1:00PM–3:00PM
Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Field 10
Join Mets Alumni and cheer on baseball’s future all-stars for a Sandlot Stars game between two local little league teams at Flushing Meadows Corona Park! The teams will be coached by your favorite Mets legends (whose names are a secret!!!!) and Mr. and Mrs. Met will be in attendance along with a live DJ and fun activities for fans.
The Mets have some FAQs…althugh I don’t see how they are FREQUENTLY asked questions as they just announced this minutes ago….they are more like POSSIBLY GONNA BE ASKED Qs
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN AMAZIN’ DAY IF I’M NOT IN NYC?
Mets Answer: Yes! While we have a lot of great events that you can enjoy if you are in the NYC area or are willing to travel for Amazin’ Day on March 25th, anyone residing in the United States can participate by entering the Amazin’ Day Sweepstakes. Additionally, for anyone in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania, you can still participate in Amazin’ Day by clicking here for a chance to win tickets to ticketed events with our participating partners. Certain limitations apply.
Real Answer: No! None of the events are where you live. I mean, it’s not like Mets fans live in the suburbs, they all live in the 5 boroughs. But you can enter their sweepstakes and hand over some personal information!
This next question is for major Mets fans who are participating in Amazin’ Day. After all, the biggest Mets fans need this answered in a FAQ
WHEN IS THE FIRST NEW YORK METS GAME THIS YEAR?
The Mets 2023 regular season opens on Thursday, March 30 at Miami. The Mets home opener will be Thursday, April 6 vs. the Marlins.
Also big time Mets fans need this info:
WHY IS THERE NO “G” IN AMAZIN’?
Casey Stengel coined the phrase the Amazin’ Mets in 1962, and ever since then, it’s been a word the Mets are known for.
