This rendering looks nice. Why do we need a casino? To me it looks like we are going to need PARKING LOTS.
Before we dive in – we’re going to need names for these new streets behind the soccer stadium. They are diagonal to the main Queens grid – so these will be outliers. It won’t make sense to call then “127th street” or “39th avenue” because of the diagonality. Should they have Mets names? Or is this going to be the politicians taking care of their own and we’ll wind up with Melinda Katz Blvd. (My guess is something like that)
What I like about the soccer project is that it’s not build on Parkland. Maybe Steve copy by some of that land on Melinda Katz Blvd. and put his casino there.
The $780 million, 25,000-seat arena… part of Phase 2 of the city’s Willets Point Redevelopment Project.
That part of the plan, which includes 1,400 units of affordable housing — on top of 1,100 already planned for the area — a 250-unit hotel and a 650-seat public school in addition to the stadium
….let me jump in. LOL. Let me know when that school opens…..
, will be executed by NYCFC and the Queens Development Group, a joint venture between Related Companies LLC and former Mets owner Sterling Equities. The stadium is expected to be completed ahead of the team’s 2027 MLS season.
