Manager Buck Showalter said he wasn’t sure who brought them in because he’s not in the “T-shirt policing business.” (via NY Post)
OK Buck, well I am in the Mets policing business.
So, maybe it’s just me, but it seems odd to me that a baseball umpire would just make something up. Also, it’s a coincidence an umpire would make something up a stadium where a player once played. It’s as if someone with the other team knew something and tipped someone off. But I can find a conspiracy in anything.
“I faced the Dodgers; I know those guys,” Scherzer said of the team he pitched for in 2021. “I told them, ‘Hey, this is what I did.’ They understood. They know me. I got my reputation in the game. The players understand.” (via NY Times)
I am not sure what Max meant by any of that.
I was unable to find any images of the t-shirt, but now that the Mets are t-shirt enthusiasts, perhaps they will start watching games from 500 feet away, as many t-shirt enthusiasts do.
We have already seen the Mets run out of their own stadium by the Padres, so they will fit right in, but to be fair it was cold, and the buzz was off once the Braves won the division…although it did turn out that the Mets did not have to work the next day.
