Mets: There are Five Aces!

Now tell me Picard. How many aces do you see?

With Noah Sydergaard being let go by the Guardians I thought I’d take a look at the Five Aces

The Aceiest Ace was The Next Seaver, Matt Harvey.  He is out of baseball and finished 50-66 with a 4.42 ERA although he did start an All Star Game.

Then there was Noah Syndergaard aka Thor.   He (has) had a better career than Matt, going 59-47 3.41 although like Matt he’s tagged on a lot of random teams at the end of his baseball card. (Angels, Phillies, Dodgers, Guardians).

The next shiniest object in the room was Zack Wheeler.  Remember him?   He is 84-63 with a 3.44.   He’s 10-6 this year and at age 33 he still has a ways to go.

While you guys were all like ooooh The Dark Knight and Thor, I started calling Jacob deGrom “The One True Ace”.  He’s 84-57 with a mighty impressive 2.43 in the 21st century.  Two Cy Young Awards isn’t too bad….but unfortunately Jake insists on throwing 100 in Spring Training and we all know what happens when you do that.

Then there is the 5th ace, and it took me a minute to remember his name other than my brain thinking “the guy that looked like young Joe DiMaggio”  Google reminds me he is Steven Matz, and he’s on the Cardinals.  54-58 4,25 (more wins that Matt Harvey!)

So Captain Picard, tell me…..how many aces do you see?
