Mets All Star Pat Zachry has died

I’m sad to learn Pat Zachry passed away at age 71.

Pat is forever tied to Tom Seaver because of the infamous trade.

Pat had won 14 games in his rookie year with the Reds, so if you HAD to trade Tom Seaver, Pat was a good piece to get back.

Pat went 41-46 with the Mets, pitching for some awful teams.   Compare that to Matt Harvey, who was 34-37 as a Met, on some better teams – so give Pat some props.

10 seasons, finishing 69-67 with a 3.52 ERA

On December 28, 1982 he was traded to the   Dodgers for Jorge Orta. Shortly after acquiring Orta, the Mets traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Steve Senteney.

Senteney never pitched for the Mets.
