The Mets and the 4th Wild Card: What a summer!

The Mets pursuit of the 4th Wild Card went pretty well this week with the Mets going, what was it, 3 and 3 vs. the Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Kansas City  Oakland Las Vegas Nowhere Athletics.

The team with the Best Owner In Sports continue to hold their position as the 4th Wild Card.  The upcoming week might be tougher.  The Orioles are playing .584 ball as I type this (but hey the Mets are home) and then the Amazins head to San Diego to play the .565 Padres.   If the Mets can stay alive until August 30th things get easier with the White Sox who somehow already have 95 losses on August 18th.

I think Steve has to be happy with what he’s built here in Year 4 of his 5 Year Promise to Win The World Series.  The Front Office has been a picture of stability.  The new marketing guy is crushing it by having the team go viral.

Fans are excited.

Look here at many members of The 7 Line Army filling the place yesterday.   Man those guys are loyal to the last out, and you’d swear that photo was from Harvey Day wouldn’t ya?  Look at them pack it in for first pitch (some of them were on line at Shake Shack, especially the guys in the last 5 rows, they were pretty hungry.  And the guys who had the seats on the bottom left of the photo.  They were getting shakes for the others.

It was about a year ago that I warned The Best Owner In Sports that he had a broken fanbase.  He blew me off.  His team marketed Lindor.  His marketing guy wants the team to go viral, and this week they did!  Everything is great in Queens.

ESPN has the Mets in the top 57% in attendance, but I will tell you once school lets out, the weather warms up, and the fans get attached to great players like this…

…the place will be even more packed.   Who won’t want to spend Labor Day weekend in Queens watching the Mets play the White Sox?

With the pursuit of the 4th Wild Card and this week’s viral mareketing on social media, Steve has to be pleased with everyone who works in the organization.  It’s another great summer in Queens!

The marketing guy doesn’t want to be like the Yankees (#2 in attendance) and the Mets didn’t take a run at Ohtani, who call me crazy, might have helped with the viral posts on social media.

What’s gonna be the excuse this winter when they don’t get Soto after blatantly flirting with the guy for a year.  And if you’re Soto, why wouldn’t you stay in the Bronx?  Those Yankees and Dodgers are crazy with their mix of star players and wining baseball.  Who wants to be like them when you can Hawk Tuah?

Black Uniforms, City Connect, the destruction of the museum, Hawk Tuah and the 4th Wild Card.  What a summer!
