Have you noticed Mr. Met’s new personality?
Since the return of the character, Mr. Met has been pretty chill. Just hanging around and taking pictures. Not exactly the Philly Phonetic.
Mrs. Met dragged Mister out of his shell and he started shooting t-shirts and being a little more animated, but still seemed like the same guy.
This year, I feel like they rebooted the character, and it feels off. I saw Mister doing pushups….that’s not Mr. Met. The character is much more lively now – which is inherently fine, except that’s not Mr. Met.
Let Mr. Met be Mr. Met. Mrs. Met has been more animated since that character came back from the dead…so let her be the bubbly one.
Or there’s 5 new boro mascots to play with. Let them be silly.
Or, if you really want to go the Phanatic Route…..why don’t you tap the past and have Mr. and Mrs. adopt a dog….named Homer The Beagle.
Get a big goofy slobbery furry Mets dog costume and let the dog do all the silly things you have Off Brand Mr. Met doing.
