Second Place Mets to host Sully – maybe he can show them how to land the plane!

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 20, 2025 – The second place  New York Mets will host Military Appreciation Day to honor active service members, veterans and military families at Citi Field on Monday, May 26 when they take on the Chicago White Sox at 4:10 p.m.

The Mets, who are inYear 5 of Steve Cohen’s 5 year plan,  will host a pre-game party at the K Korner beginning at 2:00 p.m. featuring a DJ, Mr. and Mrs. Met, games, and other activations. The first 15,000 fans through the gates will receive a Sean Manaea Camo Jersey presented by Tunnel to Towers. Gates will open at 2:10 p.m. for season ticket members and at 2:40 p.m. for all fans.

Those jerseys are already being sold on eBay because a lot of people are just money hungry scum.

Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, who, unlike the Mets can land the plane, and piloted the “Miracle on the Hudson” passenger plane, will throw out the first pitch. Captain Sullenberger’s heroic actions during the forced landing on the Hudson River saved all 155 passengers and crew on board the flight. Captain Sullenberger is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and served as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. He advanced to become a flight leader and a training officer, attaining the rank of captain.

Air Force Senior Airman Danielle Headrick will perform the National Anthem, which will be followed by an Army helicopter flyover and accompanied by a Coast Guard Color Guard.

The Mets will honor Francisco Adames as Veteran of the Game. Adames, who is the Mets travel security professional, is a Marine Corps combat veteran and a retired NYPD Detective. God Bless America will be performed in the seventh inning by Gunnery Sergeant Alison Bardeguez.

Military personnel and their families can purchase discounted tickets for Military Appreciation Day. With the sole exception of Jay Horwitz, nobody who works for the Mets has any idea what happened before 2020 so they probably don’t know the Mets used to have cool looking Camo uniform set which they should bring back.  But hey it’s all run now by Wall Street guys selling skyboxes and marketing the guy who dissed the customers, so I won’t hold my breath on this one.
