SLACKISH REACTION: The more I think about it, the more absurd the notion of sending players to live in a compound where they perform their jobs is. Yes it will be something like the Biltmore, a 5 star resort in Arizona, and their job is baseball – but are we really going force people to leave their families for months at a time to play baseball?
I did work out the beginnings of a schedule of sorts.
Arizona is three hours behind NYC in the summer. I don’t see any point of playing 10pm Eastern games during the week….assuming MLB doesn’t want to play in 100 degree sunshine.
So how about something like this. And I am only talking weekdays here.
Each week you have two three game series.
Series A: One game inside Chase Field and the next day an outside 14 inning doubleheader.
Series B: One outside 9 inning game and the next day an outside doubleheader.
At Chase we can start let East Coast teams play at Noon and 4pm Arizona time inside, and some West Coast teams at 8pm. We should be able to get each team one inside game every week. 3 games x 2 teams x 7 days = 42 slots.
A schedule might look like this.
Monday: Mets inside at 7pm ET (4pm Arizona). Good for TV
Tuesday: Mets outside for 14 innings starting at 4pm Arizona time. A little hot for our the players.
Wednesday: off
Thursday: Mets outside at 10pm Eastern, 7 Arizona. Bad or TV.
Friday: Mets outside for 14 innings starting at 4pm Arizona time. A little hot for our the players.
Not too bad right? Now we can mess with that a little…and the weekend allows more flexibility for the TV audience, so we can play with this a little more.
That’s as far as I got. MLB can work out their own details, besides this idea is a non starter. We aren’t taking people away from`their families or months and forcing them to work so that Jeff Wilpon can make money.
…
Not much from the other sites interests me this morning We’re all the way down to people talking about GKR calling a video game. How was that? I didn’t care slash forgot it was happening. But boy the AAIMBR not only did one of their site-state inflating game hangouts but they recapped it this morning. Or at least it looks like they did from the Google search results. I never ever click the content farm sites.
There’s also something something Vulgar Pete, and something about Sean Gilmartin’s wife or something and ya know, maybe we should all just log off the internet or a few months myself included.
I actually don’t miss baseball at all.
