Baseball Hall of Immortals – Inductee #46: John Henry Lloyd

Generally regarded as the best shortstops to play in they Negro Leagues, John Henry “Pop” Lloyd is the 46th inductee into the Hall of Immortals.

Over the course of 25 seasons, Lloyd regularly batted over .300, including several .400+ seasons.

As with most Negro League careers, statistics are spotty, but we do know he was roundly considered among the best players of his time.  Babe Ruth himself is said to have believed Lloyd to be the greatestplayer ever.

If the Babe says so, who are we to argue that Pop Lloyd is an Immortal.
