Welcome to Opening Day.
Usually I write some attempt at something with some emotion behind it, trying to capture the excitement of Opening Day. I’ve been less into it the last few years, especially since my so and I stopped attending games.
This year…I got nothing for ya.
Yes I will watch at 4pm, and yeah I am kind of looking forward to it. Tomorrow I plan to hit the beach so will blow off Game 2, and Sunday is an night game so whatever.
Meanwhile, baseball decided to go with the 16 team playoff, which let’s be real is NEVER GOING AWAY.
I’ve written in the last about baseball’s 25 year eras….and one just ended. The very nice and neat 1995-2019 era of steroids and wild cards. Now we enter 2020-2044 which will be Universal DH and Expanded Playoffs. The final age of 2045-2069 will be the Death Spiral, but that will the problem of some other fans.
I’m also confused as to how Juan Soto tested positive but we’re acting like last night wasn’t a little dicey. Presumably Mr. Soto was around the Nationals…who were now around the Yankees. I hope Mr. Soto is OK and that nobody else contracts the virus.
And that’s all I have for you. I wish I were more excited….but I am not. Let’s see if the 27-33 Mets can win the 8 seed and then ride JDG for a month. Yay?
