Mets add more guys to the 60, Dom leads Mets in HR’s. #FreeDom

My friends the Mets sent me some notes, and it looks like @mediagoon will need to buy some more jerseys!

Today, the Mets added catcher Francisco Alvarez and RHP Matthew Allan to the team’s 60-man Player Pool…Francisco entered the season as the second- best prospect in the organization and 69th-best in the majors, while Allan ranked fifth in the Mets’ farm system according to MLB Pipeline…Alvarez was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2018 and appeared in 42 games in 2019 between the Kingsport Mets (R) and Gulf Coast Mets (R) where he hit .312/.402/.510 with 32 runs, 10 doubles, seven homers and 26 RBI…Allan was selected by the Mets in the third round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Seminole High School in Florida…He appeared in six games (five starts) between the Gulf Coast Mets (R) and Brooklyn Cyclones (A) last year where he went 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA (three earned runs/10.1 innings) with five walks and 14 strikeouts…Both players will report to the team’s Alternate Training Site in Brooklyn.

Dominic Smith has homered in three consecutive games for the second time in his career (also June 24-26, 2019)…Pete Alonso was the last Met to homer in four straight games (August 5-9, 2019)….Smith leads the Mets with five home runs and 14 RBI…He has 10 extra-base hits in 46 at-bats this season and sports a 1.092 OPS…In his last eight games, Smith is hitting .323 (10-31) with five doubles, four homers, nine RBI and six runs scored…Nine of his last 10 hits have been XBH.

Robinson Canó is on an eight-game hitting streak, batting .556 (15-27) with four runs, two doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, three walks, a .581 OBP and an .852 SLG…He has recorded multiple hits in six of those eight games…He ranks third among active players in hits (2,586), RBI (1,281), total bases (4,194), extra-base hits (923) and in runs scored (1,239).

Edwin Díaz has not allowed a run over hits last six outings, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing four hits, a walk and striking out 12…He is holding opponents to a .194 (6-31) batting average this year…Díaz has struck out 17 in 8.1 innings this season, good for a 18.36 strikeouts per 9 IP ratio…He is tied for fifth among major league relievers with 17 strikeouts this year.
