Happy Harvey Day everyone. The Dark Knight returned once again for what I expected probably be a 4 inning adventure where he looked ok until he didn’t.
And it’s Bat-Time! Matt looks ready for his 142nd career start!
And TDK is back as Kolten Wong strikes out to begin the game. Sit down son!
And the inning ends with TDK’s SECOND strikeout of the inning. It’s always 1-2-3 for The Real Deal and we get our first Matt Harvey Looks Confident shot of the night!
We’re back for the second and TDK has a 1-0 lead! The Royals announcers are using words like “we” and talking about the players “we” sign. Major homers. And speaking of major homers…when will those start happening to poor Matt?
Uh oh, after 4 straight outs it’s a single. Now y’all know Matt can’t pitch with runners on base, right?
Wrong! Matt gets a double play to get out of it! On to the 3rd, where Matt finds himself with a 2-0 lead! He can’t blow this, right?
Then with one out, a single and then a walk and…
Kolten Wong steps back in…we are now second time through the order AND there are runners on base. 3-0 to Wong…
Wong grounds out! Runners advance. 2 out. And OH NO…
It’s a ground rule double to the corner. Tie score 2-2.
This pitch count isn’t looking good..
Goldschmidt walks. The pen gets up.
Oh no…a single..
And then the next batter hits one to third but the fielder who probably has a name but really who cares, the 3B throws the ball away and that dooms The Dark Knight. Here comes whoever the manager is.
Will we ever see Matt Harvey again, or is this our final look at him in the majors?
The line – 2 and two thirds. 4 runs, all earned, 5 hits, two walks and of course those two awesome Ks in the first.
A typical Matt Harvey start. He’s fine until he’s not. I did warn you Royals.
…
BTW I want to share that I write these as-is. I don’t go back and try to look smart and insert say the Obi-Wan thing. That’s how I felt in the moment…this is all so so predicatable. Every start.
