Mets All 2010’s Team: Announcer Howie Rose

This entire series was inspired when I saw that Howie Rose was following me on twitter and I thought to myself I had better reign in the schtick for a while or he’s gonna think I’m a total wacko.

I truly believe that with the departure of Vin Scully, Howie Rose is the best baseball announcer.

I am very fond of the way Howie can paint a picture by changing speeds and intonations.  He creates a picture in the mind’s eye where he lets you know, without saying it, when he is sure something will be an out, or not sure if it will drop in.

He’s had several partners over the years and has been good company for all of them.

And even more importantly – when we have a Big Day In Queens there is one man you want at the podium.  Someone you know is a Mets fan.  Someone who went from the Upper Deck to losing his mind some nights on Mets Extra (kinda like a blogger might) to being the heart and soul of a sometimes soulless franchise.

Point off for “Hodges Moment” Howie – you should have known better not to hand out that kind of praise in March, but you did give me a good bit for two years.
