The Mets may have introduced a new player today. The player probably has a name and there are probably some reasons that the Mets are excited about him.
Whatever those details are, the Mets once again declined to share them with me. I would have thought their plan would be to sign exciting new players to encourage fans to feel stronger about the team, but since I don’t know who they introduced today I actually feel further away from the team. I’m happy to continue to drift away from the sport while the Mets send press releases to whichever Carig-or Jared-come-lately passes through Queens for a few years before heading off to cover the Yankees. Meanwhile I have written about the team every day for twelve full seasons but who cares, right Mets? It’s not like I just started and it’s not like you don’t know I do this.
