Stupid Cheap Cohens let Mets lose Starting Pitching Depth (Wacha gone)

The Stupid Cheap Cohens didn’t open the wallet to maintain depth in the rotation.  Just days after telling us how important depth was, whatshisname the new GM that shows up to his press conference in a Nike sweatshirt – even I would have worn a sport coat, jeez, and I am probably wearing sweatpants and a baseball cap right now.

Anyway – the Stupid Cheap Cohen regime continues their WIlpon Ways by not spending money on organizational depth.

ST. PETERSBURG ― The Rays have signed veteran starting pitcher and former Cardinals All-Star Michael Wacha to a one-year, $3 million deal.

Wacha, 29, has pitched parts of eight seasons in the majors, with a career 60-43, 4.01 record. He spent seven seasons in St. Louis ― including his 17-7, 3.38 All-Star showing in 2015 ― and 2020 with the Mets, going 1-4, 6.62. (via TampaBay.com)

While those numbers look bad, remember that everyone else’s bad numbers are true numbers where as Vulgar Pete Alonso’s bad 2020 numbers – padded by three home runs in the final two games after the loser Mets missed an 8 team playoff – Pete’s numbers are easily excused by the pandemic and he’s totally gonna rebound.

A reminder, Tampa won THEIR division by 7 games.  They might know what they are doing.   Unlike those losers the Mets.
