Excusing Uncle Steve offers excuse why the Mets didn’t make moves like the Padres

There are a band of picketers outside my house wearing Uncle Steve T-Shirts, and that’s OK, but I wanted to share with you the excuse making.

In a tweet, Mets owner Steve Cohen said “Hey, Give the Padres credit. They had a top 5 farm system that gave them flexibility to trade for Snell. Newsflash, the Mets farm system needs to be replenished.”

Translating: we totally would have gotten players but we are blaming the previous regime.

Hey, it might even be true, but leaders solve problems.  The Biden administration can’t shrug and be like “hey what do you want us to do, the last guy really screwed the pooch and now a 9/11 amount of people die every day and the news barely mentions it and some people get upset if you even bring it up on your baseball blog.”  No, he cannot just say that, he needs to make things better.

The Cult Of Steve just nodded and just nodded at Steve’s Excuse.  Just as they just nodded when Steve said he doesn’t know where he was during the Buckner play.

Leadership:  Blaming Brodie Van Wagenen

I don’t want to hear it.  Figure it out man.  Figure it out.

Also, I do see Steve made a charity donation. I would write about it, but I didn’t get the press release.  So I won’t.
