Major warning signs for the permanent collapse of the Mets fanbase

The Mets should be VERY worried about this.  Once again, looks like some of the T-Shirt Army ate their tickets.

Look, I get it.  Bad teams don’t draw, and when Steve signs the 10 best Free Agents and has a billion dollar payroll then the place will be full.

But, I’m telling you, this time is different.   This isn’t 1977 – because we have 500000 other choices now.  In 1977 we had 5 channels.  So by 1984 when the Mets were good….it was something to do.

The younger millennials and Generation Z don’t care about this game.  There won’t be new fans to replace the Army soldiers who are checked out.  It is VERY easy to get in the habit of not attending games or even not watching games.  I can tell you this first hand, and I went to something like 35 out of 37 Opening Days (had to work twice), have been running this blog for 15 years and helped start a Mets-adjacent Fan Fest.

You think some casual bro-dude who likes chanting He Struck Him Out won’t find other things to do?   You think that dude won’t wonder why he’s committing to 15 games or whatever it is, when he ate the last 5-6 in 2023?

Steve, you done messed up.  You’re not even trying now – and I get that tanking is a strategy – but you are seemingly deliberately handing in garbage…..and that picture above is your warning sign.

Folks won’t come back this time.  You already tried the Big Free Agents $300M thing.  The Wilpons are gone.  The stadium is “new.”   At the core here – baseball kinda sucks as a 21st Century product….and you are allowing fans to realize that by handing in garbage.  They won’t come back.
