Wow. I’m so let down by MSG’s Summer of 86.
I hate writing this, and I am writing it while watching part one off the DVR. I’m so bored I can’t wait for it to end.
No video clips at all?
Lou Dobbs? John Leguizamo? Michael Rappaport? Ray Kelly? Who cares?
Seriously, give me 20 minutes with Darryl and Howie and I can make a How I Met The Mets on my laptop that will blow this away.
That being said, it was a billion times better than Beer Money, and is the type of programming that SNY should consider for rain delays.
Hopefully part two on MSG is better.
Skip the show and read Pearlman’s book “The Bad Guys Won”…Pearlman was quoted on the MSG special. Of course when you read it, you will question why you even rooted for those guys….maybe you shouldn’t read it after all.
Here’s the abridged version…Mookie Wilson was a nice guy…Carter was not very popular due to his media obsession…Ed Hearn was ok…Teufel was ok…the rest were scum.
hey – I was on Beer Money. Beer Money isn’t that bad.
but seriously, part 1 looked like it was setting up the last 3 parts, but it is only effective when the 4 parts are aired all together and not broken into 4 nights.
but it was good to see Fran Healy again.
(ok, every other statement here was sarcasm)
Likely Preview of Part 2:
The Mets get off to a slow start…make a terrible rap record…then go on a tear…sweep the Cardinals and the Cards are done. Mets are very arrogant and league hates them…several bench clering brawls ensue…meanwhile it’s lots of booze, drugs and women off the field. Davey lets them play.
Steve I didn’t see it but I bet you are right. How was part 2?
Baba Booey? This show really is bad.
I guess they didn’t want to pay MLB for video clips either.
Dissappointing is the perfect word to describe it. Each episode is only 30 minutes, and between the FOUR commercial breaks per show, with a half minute preview of what’s coming up per break, each episode cant’ be more than 15-18 minutes long.
It’s more or less an audio Cliff’s Notes of Pearlman’s book.
