Oh man I give up. I thought the criteria lately was to keep wearing a combo until they lose. They wore these Monday and lost in a pretty ugly fashion (excuse the pun). Guess I’m going to have to walk around wearing lovely BLUE Tampa Rays and Red Sox gear for the time being until the madness subsides.
agreed
they wore the (expletive) hybrids monday…which are just as bad as the black softball jerseys (their only saving grace is the fact that it’s an actual uniform, rather than softball gear)…
but apparently “luck” or “wins” or lack thereof is now no longer a criterion for determining to repeat a uni…question is, if they hold on tonight, will they wear this against the nats tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting)? and if they win that, what do they in yankme stadium — hybrid/gray or black/black?
it’s all so confusing
Does it count if the Mets actually won a game an noone was there to witness it!
Not even the ushers or vendors showed!
I may be wrong, but I think the Mets are the only team who wear their “away” caps at home. What a joke.
Are the hybrids officially “road” or “alt” Phil?
the hybrid caps are the official road cap
but their official homes, believe it or not, are the snow whites with blue accoutrements
the creamy pins are their “designated alt #1” and the black jerseys are “designated alt #2” … which is ridiculous
oh, and to actually answer the question, the mets are the only team in MLB to wear their official road cap at home
the snow whites with hybrid cap and black accoutrements aren’t even listed (im about 99% certain) in the MLB style guide…it’s just something they wear because they can
As far as I know, the Mets are the only MLB team (among those with separate, designated home & road caps) that has ever worn its designated road cap in a home game, let alone in practically every home game over 13½ seasons.
The Mets wore the Hybrid at home 20 times last year, that’s “practically” 1/4 of the home games.
So far, they have worn Hybrids at home 4 times. That’s “practically” less then 1/5 of the 2011 home games thus far.
Outlandish hyperbole is often counter productive to ones goals.
Is there really a need to be so nasty?
Fine. Practically every home game over 11 seasons; 1998-2009.
Happy now?
Since when is stating facts “nasty”?
And, why would I, for even a second, consider that “Fine. Practically every home game over 11 seasons; 1998-2009.” has any validity. When your previous claims have already been found to be little more than exaggerated rhetoric?
Pointing out an error, omission, misstatement or exaggeration is one thing. Doing it in a way that is obnoxious for the sake of being obnoxious, and deliberately missing the point, is another.
I don’t personally care what you think or believe. The fact is that the hybrid was the Mets de facto primary home uniform from 1998 through 2009, even though it has never been the de jure home uniform. It was the only home uniform worn by Mets players in All-Star Games during that time.
And no other major league team that I’m aware of has ever worn its officially-designated road cap in a home game, let alone made it the de facto home cap.
Have a nice weekend.
Wait what are we all fighting about?
I have to look it up but I have it in my brain that the cream is officially an alt, the snows are the official home primary. I believe the blue to be the official home cap.
Clearly they wear all sorts of combinations, and officialness doesn’t matter. I was also diving into the MLB rules yesterday and they seem to say (to my interpretation) that teams have to have a white home uniform. Clearly teams in the league violate that regularly.
Anyways, this is all just for fun. No need for anyone to stress about this. Just men hitting a ball with a stick.
play nice, walt & jay
The attendance is listed at 24,527. I assume that was the paid crowd and 20,527 people let their tickets go to waste.
yeah all announced #s are paid now.
When you look at #s from the 70’s that was actual humans at the game.
i know how the mets can cure the attendence problem. build a corn field behind the fence…it worked in “field of dreams” 🙂
