While I didn’t hear it myself a few folks reported this in. Here’s Kevin:
Hi Shannon,
Did you happen to hear what Howie Rose said today on the air?
Seems as if Terry Collins told him:
— Snow whites at home day games
— Pinstripes all other home games.
Thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t catch that.
Hope all’s well bro.
I’m fine with it. I don’t have much else to say.
I do think that it’s a fair nitpick that if yesterday was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first game then pins would have made more sense.
I’m still a tad fearful of what could happen on the road.
I’m in favor of any set schedule or rotation. The randomness of it all the past few years has almost been worse than the unis themselves.
I would like to see pinstripes most of the time and a blue alt on special occasions, or to break up a losing streak. I see no use for the snow whites, other than to look more like the Dodgers.
Been told BLUE ALT should replace the black jerseys next year.
Anything is better than the hybrid uniform. Agree that pins would have been better for yesterday.
Still not sure whether I like the off-white as fabric color for the pins. Looks better in person and from a distance than on TV. And of course looks -much- better without black drop-shadow.
It also looks like the “Wilpon script” has been corrected; the “M” appears to be in line with the “-ets.”
I’ve been looking at some pics of Mets home unis from 1997 (pins & whites), which as we all recall had thin white outline on script & lettering, which the new ones (thankfully) don’t. It appears the new Mets script is slightly larger & thicker than it was then.
Can’t wait to see the road grays tomorrow night.
