A discussion has started. Did Rusty Staub ever wear this uniform? I was ready to wink and nod and pretend its a 1975 road jersey but it’s too white for that.

Once again this would be part of my fantasy job with the Mets where they just run everything thru my office. I don’t actually want a job with the Mets but I like to pretend the Bobblehead guys come in and I point stuff like this out.
…
Update Wednesday morning: some folks are trying to convince me this is a 1975 road jersey and that the lighting is bad.
I guess we will see on Saturday but I find it hard to imagine that there was a concerted effort to honor the 1970’s with a 1975 road jersey (Rusty wore 10 in 1975′ 4 previously with the Mets, and 10 in the 80’s). Then once they did they were victims of bad lighting.
But hey we’ll see, and I love these discussion.
Now do I really care? Well I like things to be accurate, but it’s not like I kick my dog over a bobble head. I was pretty fired up about Lady Met but there were a few open beer bottles nest to the laptop last night.
Man this stuff is fun.
yes and no. from 1974-1977, the mets’ road uniforms were styled like this. they had a royal blue head spoon, mets script across the front, just like the bobble above. now, while the uni on rusty’s bobble looks like the current snow white alt, it’s differs in that there is no sleeve piping. that’s consistent with the aforementioned road unis. so in a way…yes. rusty wore a uni LIKE this. but the base color was gray, not white.
I’ll let you guys in on a secret. The Mets modeled this from a pic of Rusty Jr. AKA @lagranderusty wearing a knockoff mid 1970’s jersey from China.
The lighting on the pic isn’t the best. It could be grey but washed out by the lighting.
I love this discussion by the way.

This picture would be the closest he came to wearing that…as I said earlier a 1975 Road gray…for the real detail oriented, the number font in the picture is a Block with Serif…reminds me of another conversation a few days ago about blue BPs. The Mets wore different fonts on the road from their home jerseys from 1962 to 1977.

Oh…number 10. I had no idea he wore that number his first go-round.
Rusty wore 10 in Houston and Montreal…but with the Mets, Duffy Dyer had 10 until he left after 1974. Rusty took 10 for 1975, then was gone himself after that year.
Looks like the snow white. Plus he wore #4 in the 70s.
Brian Erni already nailed the details, but, yeah, that’s a gray road uni. The color is better represented on the TV commercials than in that pic.
So u think the bobble head is gray?
Rusty never wore his stirrups that high. Every Mets fan knows that…
