Tonight’s the big night!
This is what all the sacrifice was for! Sending 16 Mets to the World Baseball Classic was worth it.
Japan vs. South Korea for the right to declare themselves the true World Champions of Baseball.
This is what everyone wanted!
Wright risking injury, Perez throwing 85 pitches, K-Rod’s 4 inning saves – it all led to tonight….
Japan vs. South Korea!
I plan to take tomorrow off so I can stay up late (game time is 9pm Eastern / 10am Tokyo) and soak this in.
This time it counts! Bud Selig is talking about how this will be his legacy. I guess when your choices are Wild Cards, a lost World Series and steroids…sure the WBC is a good choice.
The players want this thing moved to November. So do I. The argument that the fall is all about the NFL doesn’t hold water – play the games Tuesday thru Saturday and you’ll be fine.
Finally spring training begins. The Captain returns to Tampa, and The Future Captain returns to Port St. Luice. Enjoy your silly exhibition game at 9pm Bud, I won’t be watching.
Well, it took a while, but I’m with you on this one – this will be the fifth (FIFTH?!) time Japan and Korea have played each other this tournament. Was it so hard to sent the runners-up in each first round pool to a different second round pool?
Still, at least the Mets that were in the tournament had a good ‘proxy spring training’; Beltran, Delgado, Wright and Rodriguez all did a good job. If they’re as good in the season, the Mets will be just fine.
ps; must we keep calling him K-Rod? https://metspolice.com/2008/12/7-things-k-rod-and-mets-fans-need-to.html
Huh? First you’re complaining that the final game won’t be intriguing because it will be between Japan and South Korea (as if it’s Selig’s fault that the USA failed to win last night and you won’t be able to watch your Captain and Future Captain play). But then you’re complaining that the WBC is held in March instead of November. One has nothing to do with the other. So if the USA was playing Korea tonight, you’d be cool with that? Or if Japan and South Korea were playing in the final game of a November WBC, you’d be sure to tune in?
