Six players, including Ichiro, Harper, Trout, Andrew McCutchen, Yu Darvish and Chipper Jones, made the top ten after not appearing in the top 20 on the 2011 calendar-year list released in March of this year. Seven additional players – Matt Kemp, Joey Votto, Prince Fielder, Jose Bautista, Yadier Molina, Miguel Cabrera and Brett Lawrie – who did not make last year’s list cracked the top 20 this time around.

But…but…but…we have to hold on to player “X” because he’s the marketing hook that keeps the Mets relevant!
You’ll notice the most common thread among all the players listed is that their teams were in playoff contention the vast majority of the season.
