Bill Gallo Proposes Mets "Pioneers Room"

With all the talk of Citi Field having nothing “Mets” about it (think about it, if the Mets were to fold and the Mariners to move in, would they need to change anything?  Paint over the numbers on the fence and you’re done) – Bill Gallo proposed the “Pioneers Room” in Sunday’s Daily News.

(1) Bill Shea, whose great New York influence made it all possible.
(2 and 3) Johnny Murphy and Bob Scheffing, general managers. They signed and helped groom such star pitchers as Tom SeaverNolan RyanJerry Koosman,Gary Gentry and Jon Matlack.
(4) Casey Stengel, the blithe spirit who first burped the baby.
(5) Gil Hodges, the strong, silent man who knew how to lead men and make them champions.
It’s a terrible shame about Gil Hodges. This is a man who is all but forgotten in this town, yet did so much for it. Hodges was a star on the old Brooklyn Dodgers – a leader for them, too  – who went on to become a great manager.

Good ideas Bill!   Read the rest here.
