This is one of those columns that will get people upset because I am
going to say something nice about one of the enemies.
The Phillies have eveything we want.
Two glorious comebacks in late September.
Three straight divisions.
Two straight pennants.
We have never had any of that. The closest run the Mets had was the
85-88 bunch and we only got one pennant and series out of all that,
and we barely got the series.
A world championship.
Owners that went out and got Cliff Lee.
A bunch of scrappy guys that remind me of some guys I rooted for in te
80's.
A nice ballpark that allowed me to see all 9 defensive players (Philly
fans who will discover this on some message board, do you guys have
obstructed views? Email [email protected]).
A manager named Manuel. Oh wait we have that.
You know how much we love David Wright? How loved do you think Ryan
Howard would have been if he came up as a Met. That's not a diss on
David, but chicks dig the longball.
I'm sorry if this makes Mets fans sad but search your feelings, you
know it to be true. We should be so lucky as to have what they have
in Philadelphia right now.
While you're getting mad at me, who are you rooting for inthe World
Series? I'm still openly rooting for the team from New York. I also
hope the Phillies go 43-119 next year.
