Here’s what we’re doing. We are crowdsourcing 41 ideas for the Mets. The ideas can be big or small. Email me your idea at [email protected]. Today’s idea is from @DyHrdMET
Naming parts of the ballpark
One of the things that quietly was dropped when moving from Shea Stadium to Citi Field was a street sign designation outside of Shea (near where the apple is now outside of Citi) called “Casey Stengel Plaza”.
That seems to have been lost, and I always thought that the name should have been retained either in what’s being called “Mets plaza” outside the rotunda by the apple and the staircase to the trains, or in the area behind home plate up on the Promenade (above the rotunda and Caesar’s Club where there are food tables and concessions). Let’s pick one and ask people to add it as a place on Foursquare and ask them to keep checking in there until the name sticks.
And then pick an area in the LF corner (either field level or in the Promenade level) to call “Kiner’s Korner” and do the same thing.
Isn’t that basically how the name “Shea Bridge” happened?

Wow you are so right about Casey Stengel Plaza…and “Mets Plaza” is pretty lame. Perhaps they are hoping they can name in Sponsor Plaza?
Wasn’t the Pepsi Porch originally supposed to be “Coogan’s Bluff”?
Well, at least all the sponsors help us out with our high payroll… oh, wait.
