Good morning. All seems quiet* in Flushing today, so I am heading up to Boston to see four lads from Dublin play a few songs and I am leading @mediagoon in charge for the next 36 hours or so.
Long-time readers know that when I leave Goonie in charge that all hell breaks loose, so expect to hear stuff like tickets are $1, Wright is out for the year, and that Matt Harvey got a parking ticket.
Some quick items:
Good stuff from Paul Lukas on Uni Watch about the Little League World Series. While not a popular opinion, I am not a fan. They are kids. Win your county and be done and go enjoy your summer kids. No need for all the money and stress and pseudo-professionalism. You are kids playing a game. Paul did a good job, just read what he said and ditto.
A semi-joke but if Matt Harvey did what JDG did last night the newspapers would would have done commemorative pull out sections today.
Do you think Matt Harvey enjoyed the All Star Game? I imagined him changing the channel to Celebrity Game Night. Matt likes the spotlight and it’s not on him today. I joked he will try to strike out the side in eight pitches in his next start.
Caught the in-game interview with Todd Frazier. He seems like the kind if guy that would make a good Face of The Franchise if a team needed one. My tweet about that during the game started a twitter discussion. Here are 9 episodes of the podcast which explain how much I feel for Wright. However, me wishing him well doesn’t change his health. My fear is we are going to have 5 seasons of The Ghost Of David Wright hanging around because he can’t retire for contract reasons (see Mo Vaughn). (Warning to Goon and Greg Prince, you may get a ring from someone looking to podcast Thursday night).
Is Pete Rose banned from baseball or not? Seems really inconsistent to occasionally allow one-off days where Pete can come out and wave and be honored as an All Time Great.
And in context, this all-in on Daily Fantasy Sports that baseball is doing seems really awkward. Almost as awkward as the David Wright vacationing commercials.
Great job Jake. We don’t have much, but we do have you.
Enjoy the chaos @mediagoon!
