Hi guys,
As surfaced on twitter today, Media Goon has left the band. I’ll discuss that in a moment, but first please read this excerpt from People Magazine in 1984, which will make sense by the time you finish reading.
The postscript on the jacket of Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. album reads Buon viaggio, mio fratello—in Italian, “Pleasant journey, my brother.” That’s the Boss’ parting salute to his guitarist and co-producer of seven years, fellow Jersey shore strummer “Miami” Steve Van Zandt. Van Zandt has nixed the “Miami,” calls himself Little Steven now and, while Springsteen continues his trek across America, has launched a month-long tour of Europe with his own band to promote his second album, Voice of America.
….
“Although Bruce and I feel essentially the same, we’re coming from different places. I’m more international and he works from within. But he’s been the most encouraging of anyone. He heard the record and said, ‘This record’s too important. You’re gone! Don’t even think about bein’ in my band.’ “
And yeah, our band here at MP has broken up. There’s no anger, there’s no ill will. This actually happened three weeks ago and I didn’t do a post about it because I didn’t want to turn it into a thing.
Today it came up on twitter and people seem vaguely interested in it so I thought I’d address it.
There’s no bad blood. I honestly don’t think it’s forever. I hope and imagine Keith will sit in from time to time, and already has done a “hey Keith, I’m jammed can you post this” favor for me since the departure. All is well. Also please understand we are first cousins and share blood.
Keith addressed it on his blog TheMediaGoon.Com: Metspolice.com sans Mediagoon, and I highly encourage you to read and follow his blog as I am sure it will be interesting. Maybe it will have some Mets Police DNA, much like this site is Uni Watch + Mushnick with some snark and pop culture references thrown in, but the TMG blog will allow Keith to do his thing.
In the meantime, MP continues in hopes that some day the Mets win the World Series while dressed nicely. Then I can stop doing this and you can go read Mediagoon.com
Happy to answer any Qs on Facebook or twitter* but I think this already is way bigger on social media than it is in real life. I didn’t even show you guys the awesome Lee Mazzilli bat he gave me!

For the super curious, the comments section is one of the things that we don’t see eye to eye on. Kinda like Dave and Eddie arguing over synthesizers in Van Halen. It’s just a blog.
