Wondering about loopholes in the Mets Father’s Day cap giveaway

No good deed goes unpunished…

mets father's day cap 2016

Hey cool, the Mets are giving away caps to anyone 12 or under and all fathers. That’s nice. Now welcome to my rabbit hole.

How many caps have the Mets ordered?  Are they prepared for 45,000 father’s coming?  If so, and some children over 12, some women and/or some non-fathers come what will they do with the extra caps?

How do the Mets determine who a father is?  Say I show up at a game with me, my son, Uncle Media Goon and Media Goon’s Dad.  Which of us get caps?  Goon and I are more or less the same age, but he does not have children.  How will the Mets know?

Does the old guy with us get a cap?  He does have a 40 year old son after all?

What if I leave my son home?  How will the Mets know that I am a father and that Goon is not?  Do they just take our word for it?  So at that point isn’t this just “kids and men get a cap?” and if so let’s just call it that.
