Decided to go back and re-live that week where Wally was hired as Diamondbacks manager. The item below was totally out of my brain and will explain a lot including why he probably won’t ever be the manager of the Mets.
I met Wally at the Queens Baseball Convention (that’s him there with Dan), and thought he was pretty cool. @mediagoon spent even more time with him and liked him a lot.
The Mets were scheduled to interview Backman for their manager’s job last week in St. Louis, but he called to say that his flight had been canceled. He subsequently contacted the Mets to remove himself from consideration for the position.
