Holy cow, baseball is handing in an unwatchable product.
Meaningful games in September is what everyone pines for, but I can’t watch these four hour games. You can’t have a bunch of no-names and/or let the manager make four trillion pitching changes. It actually is unwatchable.
Two nights in a row now I said screw this at 10, because I could tell there was at least an hour left of micromanaging, Sure I missed Cabrerapalooza but I don’t care, I just wake up and watch the highlight.
The original intention was for organizations to get a look at younger players, but the reality is Creeping Larussaism with “matchups” and 45 middle relievers.
Unwatchable.
The only thing more Unwatchable is Pitch, which is one of two things I checked out when I bailed on the Mets. It was like the last thing whoever made it had seen was the Bad News Bears or something. A bunch of obvious characters including the salty old manager and the Don Zimmer bench coach. AWFUL. And amazingly, Joe Buck was completely unconvincing as a baseball play by play guy.
If you care, I also watched Designated Survivor which is a good premise stuck on network TV. Grab the remote, skip all the b-plots and just watch the “West Wing” parts. I wish HBO or someone had done this one.
