Live Game Telecasts Deliver Highest Viewership Since 2008 Season
[New York, October 3, 2016] – The tri-state area is painted Mets blue and orange as SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, today announced that the network was baseball’s most watched regional sports network in the country’s #1 market during the 2016 regular season. Mets on SNY, featuring the networks critically acclaimed live game telecasts and exclusive post-game show, dominated the baseball scene besting the local competition and delivered viewership increases across key Mets programs.
For the season, Mets live game broadcasts on SNY averaged a 2.73 household rating (+4% vs. 2015) and 263,850 total viewers (+9% vs. 2015); both signal the highest on the network since the 2008 season. Mets live game broadcasts were up 20% in house hold rating and 21% in total viewers versus YES’ Yankees’ telecasts.
SNY’s W.B Mason Mets Post-Game Live delivered a 1.10 household rating (equal to 2015) and 105,212 total viewers (+4% vs. 2015). The average total viewers for Mets Post-Game are the network’s highest over the past eight years. Mets post-game outperformed YES’ post-game show in house hold rating by 28% and total viewers by 35%.
Mets on SNY’s postseason coverage begins tonight with Mets Playoffs Live presented by Jeep at 6:00 p.m. Hosted by Doug Williams, Mets Playoffs Live will re-set each day during the Mets postseason run and include the latest team news and breaking information provided by a cast of baseball experts. On Wednesday, SNY’s pre- and post-game coverage will broadcast live from Citi Field starting at 6:00 p.m. with Mets Playoffs Live. Hosted at Citi by Gary Apple, SNY’s broadcast duo of Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen will join analysts Nelson Figueroa and Jim Duquette for a full two hours of pre-game coverage leading into the game’s first pitch. Immediately following the game, the crew returns to recap all the action from the game highlighted by player reaction from the clubhouse delivered by Mets field reporter Steve Gelbs and live footage from Terry Collins’ post-game press conference.
