The Mets as Fast & Furious Movies

Some off-day silliness.  What if we compared the Mets to Fast & Furious movies.  Why?  Why not?  I also anticipate this post will somehow become controversial.

The Fast & The Furious:  the 1984 Mets.  It sets up the premise for everything that comes.  Nobody expected much, and it was thoroughly enjoyable and left you wanting more.

2 Fast 2 Furious:  it’s kid of what you want, kind of fun, but the guy you really want to be there isn’t in it.  Pick your choice of Wright-less seasons.

Tokyo Drift:  you guys have forgotten that for a while the Mets were all-in on marketing to people of Asian ancestry, with some belief that they would draw crowds coming in from Flushing.  Add that to Bobby Valentine’s love of Japan and we saw some Shinjo and Kaz Matsuo action in Queens.  Nothing feels right here, and nobody loved it.   Yes you watched it, but you didn’t care.

Fast & Furious:  let’s take everything we love and add try it again.  This is the 1985 Mets.  Well except F&F doesn’t have Gary Carter.

Fast Five:  you know what this series needs?   A super-star.   The Rock.

Fast & Furious 6:  ok we’ve added a super star, everything looks good…now all we need is the ultimate villain.  The Yankees.  The Subway Series.

Furious 7:  the 2015 Mets.  Take everything we love and make it even more awesome.  That being said, it’s sad because we know our favorite character will be splitting off and taking his own road at the end of the season.

(RELAX, this is just a hokey blog post, I am not making light of Paul Walker’s death)

Fate of the Furious:  the 2016 Mets.  Let’s carry on with most of the same, but make one of the main guys a bad guy.  It’s fun but it just doesn’t feel like it’s as much fun.   Yes this makes no sense because of the comparison I made for Fast 7, but hey it’s just a hokey off-day blog post, relax.
