Mets Morning Laziness: Sterlingitis and MLB’s Unwatchable TV Product

Slackish Reaction: another extra Laziness as I slept in again. It is so use to sleep in. Anyway, I was watching the game and it was kind of boring and I realized I don’t want Saturday Night Baseball (I stare at the Mets every night, I don’t want to stare at them on Saturday nights too), so I switched to the DVR and passed out during The Americans and never made it back to the game. Oops. The Mets won 11-3, get your recap on Amazon’ Mets Insiderized Blog if you need a recap. That’s not what the Laziness is.

What the Laziness is – it’s here to save you time. Instead of linking, I tell you what to not even bother with. As an example, the dopey MSM is creaming over Jay Bruce now. Not linking.

The Post points out that the Mets offense is on its best run in 10 years.  I point out that this “proves” the team is better without Cespedes.  Now that we all love Jay Bruce, We #Free(d)Lagares and and #Free(d)Conforto obviously it is time to trade Cespedes for middle relief.  That’s how you guys roll.  Unfortunately Yo is out with no sign of return.

Speaking of injuries, I am sure you heard Cabrera is hurt.  We will never get rid of Reyes now.  I figure three weeks of Reyes sucking then we get Rosario.  Or maybe Cabrera comes back soon, but this is Queens so I doubt it.

Here’s how the sex toy got in the locker.

We haven’t talked about Gary Cohen’s Sterlingitis.  Have you noticed Gare starting to go into a home run call on every deep ball?  It’s like he isn’t seeing the ball so well this season.

Anyway, it was nice to hear him do an actual home run call last night instead of forcing in IT’S OUTTA HERE like he did the other night on a 900 foot HR in a 7-1 game. However, as pointed out he still did work in an Outta Here. Again, John Sterling and Kay do this stuff and people rip them, but Gary overdoes the Outta Here. I get it in a big spot, but sometimes it’s 9-1 Gare.

And speaking of Gare…what the hell is Gelbs talking about every night? Seems like a nice guy but when he comes on I find myself a minute later having no idea nor interest in the topic. I’m sure this post will make me a lot of friends. I already have everyone at WOR pissed at me.

Off to soccer games.  Best of luck to TDK lest he become a .500 pitcher.  More about that on the podcast.

Finally, an open letter to MLB.  Your product is really really boring these day and it’s because of pitching changes.  The first 5 innings are boring enough, and you can’t get that pitch clock in here soon enough, but once we start with the bullpens, forget it.  Terry used five pitchers last night in a game he won by 8 runs.  They weren’t all mid-inning changes, but it shows the mindset of ridiculous bullpenism.

You need to add some sort of Minimum Batters Faced rules, and you need to establish players enter the game from the dugout and they enter warm up.  No more jog in from 500 feet away.  Once you’re ready, head to the dugout.  When you are subbed in, run to the mound and start pitching.  No trips to the mound, no conference, no extra commercial breaks.

I really like the sport, but I’m really struggling to watch it.   Discuss on Facebook.
