In which I surprise you that Mets’ Sid Fernandez was better than Ron Darling

I was poking around the All Time List this morning and noticed Sid Fernandez’ strikeout total. Then I sorted by wins…

Not sure if you can see that but…

Darling is 4th in Franchise wins with 99, Sid 98.  Ron 257 games to Sid’s 255. Sid started 9 more games.

Ronnie a 3.50 ERA, Sid a 3.14

K’s Ronnie 1148 and Sid 1449 (in slightly fewer innings).  Sid had a better WHIP.

And not to mention that whole Game 7 thing.

I found all this surprising.   Not that I didn’t like Sid, but i have always considered Ron to be the Koosman to Doc’s Seaver.  Sid is  never talked about in these parts, but looks like he snuck in a heck of a Mets career while we were all looking at the front end of teh rotation.
