I was not a huge fan of manager Willie Randolph because he would use the bullpen chasing 8-2 losses (instead of using the Good Relievers on bankable games and teh scrubs in losses, like Joe Torre did in that era.) however I find myself wondering why he never got another shot.
In 4 seasons, a .544 record, and only one game under when fired.
Now on the way out it got ugly – someone wise said everything ends badly otherwise it wouldn’t end – and if I recall he said some things that may annoy some people – but why didn’t anyone else hire him.
He’s 63 now and the trend is to have managers younger than I am. so he won’t get that chance – but did Willie deserve better?
