Is Bud Harrelson somehow the best Mets player of the 1970’s? Maybe

You millennials have heard me tell you before that there was a time when Bud Harrelson was the no doubt second most popular Met of all time.

Was he the best Mets player of the 1970’s?  Maybe.

Let’s take a look at the numbers…

3rd most hits, 2nd most runs, most triples, 2nd most games, most at bats and most stolen bases.  Not to mention a steady presence at shortstop for most of the decade.

While his overall numbers might not impress you OPS+ weridos who don’t understand baseball, maybe just maybe Buddy stuck around long enough and quietly accumulated just enough numbers to be…..the greatest Mets player of the 1970s?
