Is Steve Henderson somehow the best Mets player of the 1970’s? Maybe

Steve Henderson.  The kind of man you’d trade your franchise for.

Could Steve Henderson somehow have been the best Mets player of the 1970s?  Let’s take a look…

Best battevi average of the 1970s Mets?  Steve Henderson at .285.   That might not impress you kids that grew up on SteroidsBall and don’t understand how futzed the current game is – but .285 in the 1970’s is solid.

2nd in slugging to Dave Kingman.  2nd in triples.   10.3 of oWAR whatever the hell that means to you kids in 4 seasons.  If not the best, he’s at least way better than a hypothetical minor leaguer.

Was Steve Henderson the best Mets player of the 1970s?  Maybe.
