SNY TO PREMIERE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY
“LOS METS: BASEBALL IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC” ON THURSDAY, APRIL 5TH
SNY Goes Behind the Scenes with Amed Rosario and Jeurys Familia on Their Journeys from the D.R. to the Major Leagues
NEW YORK, NY, April 2, 2018 – SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, New York Jets and all things New York sports, will premiere an exclusive documentary entitled “Los Mets: Baseball in the Dominican Republic” on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.
Hosted by SNY’s Mets on field reporter Steve Gelbs, “Los Mets: Baseball in the Dominican Republic,” is a 30-minute special highlighting the Mets history and presence in the Dominican Republic and the profound impact the sport of baseball has had on the country.
The feature includes Mets stars Amed Rosario and Jeurys Familia, who welcomed SNY’s camera crews into their homes to share their incredible family stories and how baseball changed their families’ lives. Familia also returns to his humble childhood home, sharing stories of his parent’s struggles and sacrifices to provide for Familia and his siblings.
Gelbs also brings viewers inside the Mets state of the art baseball academy in Boca Chica speaking with the different coaches and staff about the country’s passion for the sport of baseball and the opportunity the academy provides the players through sport and education.
Adding to the broadcast is Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson, discussing why he believes the D.R. is at the forefront of producing some of the best baseball players in the world.
